This victory solidifies Falcons dominance, marking their seventh Dota 2 tournament win of 2024 and their third consecutive DreamLeague title since Season 22.

DreamLeague Season 24 featured an intense structure with two group stages: an initial stage with two groups of eight, and a second stage where the top four teams from each group battled it out.

Falcons initially topped Group B in Stage 1 with a 5-2 (12-2) record, only dropping games to Tundra Esports and Team Waska.

However, they faced tougher competition in Group Stage 2, narrowly securing the fourth seed in the playoffs with a 4-3 (10-8) record, including losses to top teams like BetBoom and PARIVISION.

In the playoffs, Falcons found their footing, defeating PARIVISION and then sweeping Team Spirit in the lower bracket final to earn their spot against BetBoom Team in the grand finals.

The series began with Falcons securing a 37-minute win, but BetBoom fought back to even the score with a hard-fought 42-minute victory.

Falcons quickly regrouped, winning Game three in a decisive 30-9 kill lead and then closing out the series in Game four with a 32-minute rout.

Star performances throughout the finals came from Falcons core trio: Ammar ATF Al-Assaf, Oliver skiter Lepko, and Stanislav Malr1ne Potorak.

ATF led in the closeout game with an 11-2-18 KDA on Bristleback, while skiter and Malr1ne supported the victory with impressive contributions on Alchemist and Sand King, respectively.

In a lighthearted post-match interview, Andreas “Crit-” Nielsen humorously addressed the ongoing challenges with their controversial star Ammar, saying, “It’s just me and Aui telling Ammar the same thing over and over for 10 months, but nothing changes.”

With an invitation to the upcoming ESL One Bangkok in December, Falcons have a shot at an eighth title in 2024, further cementing what has been a historic year for the team.

Despite being relegated to the lower bracket earlier in the tournament, Falcons battled back and showcased their dominance with a flawless Dota 2 performance.

Their journey to the top began with a decisive win over BetBoom Team in the lower bracket.

Although BetBoom had quickly adapted to the significant new patch released during the event, Falcons muscled through to a 2-1 victory.

The grand final started explosively, with Falcons dominating the first match.

Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen’s performance on his signature Hoodwink was pivotal, helping the team secure a swift 25-minute victory.

In game two, the Gladiators tried an unconventional strategy with a Wraith King carry.

While initially promising, this tactic faltered against Falcons’ crowd control-heavy composition, leading to a slow loss for the Gladiators.

Game three was the Gladiators last hope for redemption.

The team, struggling to replicate their success from 2023, once again opted for a perplexing draft reliant on dying cores.

Falcons capitalized on this, securing a clean 3-0 sweep to win the championship.

Falcons’ victory at DreamLeague Season 23 earned them $300,000 and a guaranteed invite to the Riyadh Masters 2024.

Their dominant performance, including an undefeated upper bracket run, underscored their supremacy in the current Dota 2 season.

Had they not drawn their group series against Shopify Rebellion, Falcons would have achieved a complete event sweep.

Support star Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu attributed their success to focusing on the fundamentals of Dota.

A big reason why I think were a strong team is because we focus on the fundamentals, he said.

Cr1t- emphasized the importance of simplicity in adapting to the mid-tournament Patch 7.36.

Most of the stuff in this patch is just yoloing it and [using] what you think is good as long as theres some logic, he explained.

Falcons mid-laner Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak was a standout, amassing 46 kills and just five deaths over the three games.

Despite Gaimin Gladiators’ efforts, they could not match Falcons’ relentless aggression and strategic prowess.

With this victory, Falcons secured back-to-back DreamLeague titles and their fourth tier-one tournament win in 2024, adding to their triumphs at BetBoom Dacha Dubai and ESL One Birmingham.

The conclusion of DreamLeague Season 23 confirmed the eight invited teams for the Riyadh Masters: Falcons, BetBoom, Gaimin Gladiators, Xtreme Gaming, Tundra Esports, OG, Team Liquid, and Team Spirit, with the remaining play-in squads to be determined by ESL Pro Tour rankings.

As the Dota 2 community looks ahead to the Riyadh Masters in July and TI 2024, Falcons’ impeccable form positions them as the favourites to lift the Aegis.

The abrupt departure of MinD_ContRoL, who had only recently joined Tundra on January 8, left the Dota 2 community reeling with surprise and speculation.

Minutes before facing Shopify Rebellion, MinD_ContRoL took to social media to reveal his unexpected removal from Tundra’s roster, sending shockwaves through the community.

The timing of his dismissal, coupled with his short tenure with the team, raised eyebrows and fuelled rumours about internal conflicts within Tundra.

To fill the void left by MinD_ContRoL’s departure, Tundra hastily enlisted Vladislav laise Lais, a former Natus Vincere member and a highly ranked player, as their new off-laner for the match against Shopify Rebellion.

However, despite the substitution, Tundra’s performance suffered noticeably without their iconic off-laner, resulting in a tied series against their opponents.

Speculation regarding the reasons behind MinD_ContRoL’s removal from the team ran rampant.

The appointment of Ludwig Zai W?hlberg, as Tundra’s general manager on February 23 added fuel to the fire, with fans questioning his potential involvement in the decision.

In an attempt to shed light on the situation, MinD_ContRoL appeared on Janne “Gorgc” Stefanovskis stream to share his side of the story.

He expressed discomfort with the team’s dynamics, particularly the infringement on his agreed-upon role as captain and drafter, as well as his objection to working with certain teammates.

Despite voicing his concerns, MinD_ContRoL felt disregarded by Tundra’s management, leading to a breaking point where he presented the organization with an ultimatum.

However, Tundra deemed his demands “unreasonable” and subsequently suspended him indefinitely, sparking further backlash from the community.

The fallout from MinD_ContRoL’s departure has left Tundra Esports facing criticism over their handling of the situation and calls into question the organization’s integrity.

As the Dota 2 community waits for further developments, the saga serves as a reminder of the complexities and challenges within the competitive gaming landscape.

Bleed Esports adds “Mikoto” & “Poloson” to their Dota 2 roster https://www.kinism.net/bleed-esports-adds-mikoto-poloson-to-their-dota-2-roster/ https://www.kinism.net/bleed-esports-adds-mikoto-poloson-to-their-dota-2-roster/#respond Tue, 09 Jan 2024 01:29:10 +0000 https://www.kinism.net/?p=33826 On Monday, January 8, Bleed Esports announced the signing of mid laner Rafli “Mikoto” Fathur Rahman and support Wilson “poloson” Koh.

With the two additions, Bleed Esports completed their Dota 2 line-up, weeks ahead of DreamLeague Season 22.

Mikoto joins Bleed Esports as one of the most recognisable names from the South-East Asia (SEA) Dota 2 scene.

The 23-year-old started his esports career in March 2017 and has since played for some of the top teams in the region, including BOOM Esports and Talon Esports.

With Talon, Mikoto accomplished a lot last year.

He won the BTS Pro Series Season 14: Southeast Asia and DPC SEA 2023 Tour 2: Division I and claimed two bronze medals at the Lima Major 2023 and Riyadh Masters 2023.

However, despite all the success, Mikoto found himself on the chopping block after Talon’s 9th-12th-place exit from The International 2023.

His new teammate, poloson joins Bleed Esports as one of the most experienced players on the roster.

Over his career, which spans a decade, poloson has competed with some of the strongest Dota 2 teams in the world, including Invictus Gaming, Nigma Galaxy SEA, and Team SMG.

Even though poloson didn’t accomplish much in 2023 when he competed with Myth Avenue Gaming, the seasoned veteran can offer a lot of value for Bleed, who’ll look to build on the success they’ve achieved in 2023.

Bleed Esports have proven very active during the Dota 2 offseason, looking to strengthen the roster after failing to accomplish much in the 2023 season.

Even though Bleed Esports won DPC SEA 2023 Tour 3: Division I, the SEA squad failed to show much on the international stage.

In July, Bleed Esports attended Bali Major 2023 and crashed out of the $500,000 Dota 2 esports tournament in 13th-14th place.

By the end of the season, the Singaporean team unsuccessfully attempted to qualify for The International and ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, exiting both qualifiers in fifth-sixth place.

In a bid to find more success in 2024, Bleed Esports started rebuilding the roster in November with the addition of Natthaphon “Masaros” Ouanphakdee and Tommy “Taiga” Le.

However, after a rough showing at Kobolds Rave in December, Bleed released Taiga and found two new players to fill the missing gaps.

Bleed Esports will debut their new roster in the upcoming DreamLeague Season 22 qualifier, set to start in February.

This decision created a void in the professional Dota 2 scene, prompting ESL to step in with the ESL Pro Tour Season 2.

Team Spirit currently leads the season with 2400 points, securing their position after winning DreamHack DreamLeague Season 21, followed closely by Shopify Rebellion with 2000 points.

ESL Pro Tour Season 2 is set to dominate the calendar with five tournaments, beginning with the highly anticipated ESL One Kuala Lumpur, officially kicking off the 2024 Dota 2 professional season.

ESL Pro Tour Season 2 introduces a new Dota 2 region, MENA, ensuring one guaranteed spot in ESL-hosted tournaments.

Uncertainty surrounds the inclusion of MENA in third-party tournaments, given its proximity to Europe, despite the region boasting a similar skill ceiling.

Following ESL One Kuala Lumpur, DreamLeague Season 22 is scheduled for late February to the first week of March, with qualifiers starting in January.

In April, an ESL LAN event in Europe will precede DreamLeague Season 23.

Open qualifiers for ESL One EU and DreamLeague Season 22 are set for January and March, respectively.

The pinnacle of ESL Pro Tour Season 2 arrives in July with a mysterious tournament.

Rumors circulate about a significant prize pool, potentially rivaling that of The International 2021.

Dzmitry “Fishman” Palishchuk fueled the speculation with an unverified claim of a US$45,000,000 prize pool.

The ESL Pro Tour is poised to reshape the Dota 2 professional scene, with ESL’s commitment evident in their schedule.

The introduction of the EPL Leaderboard awards teams with EPT Points, determining direct invites to the July ‘Showdown’ event.

The ESL Pro Tour calendar for 2024 includes three online DreamLeague seasons and two live ESL One tournaments.

The season kicks off with DreamLeague Season 22 in late February, followed by ESL One Europe in person in April.

May sees DreamLeague Season 23 before the July Showdown event.

Shane Clarke, Director Game Ecosystems C Dota 2 at ESL FACEIT Group, expressed excitement about the 2024 ESL Pro Tour, promising remarkable moments, eye-watering prize pools, and an unwavering dedication to the Dota 2 community.

Post-Showdown, ESL Pro Tour Season 3 begins with another DreamLeague season and ESL One competition in October and November, respectively.

ESL One Asia concludes the season in December, with the remaining tournaments scheduled for 2025.

These developments mark a significant shift in Dota 2’s competitive landscape following Valve’s discontinuation of the Dota Pro Circuit, with ESL taking the reins to provide an electrifying and competitive professional scene.

The tournament’s novel structure consists of two key stages: the novel Group Stage taking place from September 18th to 21st, and the ensuing Playoffs scheduled for September 21st to 24th.

The Group Stage has undergone significant streamlining, condensing into two round-robin groups, each housing six teams.

Following the group stage duels, two teams from each group will exit the competition.

Notably, all Group Stage matches adopt a two-game series configuration, featuring consecutive Best-of-1 (BO1) matches.

Subsequently, the eight advancing teams will engage in a fierce double-elimination showdown during the Playoffs.

Here, all matches will adopt a Best-of-3 (BO3) format. The upper bracket will welcome four teams, with the remaining four battling it out in the lower bracket.

The pinnacle of the tournament, the Grand Finals, will be a riveting Best-of-5 (BO5) contest, with the victors walking away with a substantial reward of US$300,000.

DreamLeague holds a revered status as one of the longest-standing Dota 2 events, originating from DreamHack in 2013.

In the present day, ESL FACEIT Group has taken the reins of organizing the competition.

The 2023 iteration of DreamLeague has been revamped to align seamlessly with the newly restructured ESL Pro Tour.

Shane Clarke, the Director of Game Ecosystems C Dota 2 at ESL FACEIT Group, expressed his anticipation for the upcoming DreamLeague season.

He highlighted the continuation of the ESL Pro Tour for Dota 2 and the distinctive online ambiance that DreamLeague delivers.

Clarke emphasized the significance of Season 21, which unfolds on patch 7.34 and marks the final high-tier tournament preceding TI12 (The International 2023).
