BLAST has officially secured the operations of two major esports titles, Fortnite and Rocket League, in multi-year deals.

Despite the dominance of ESL FACEIT Group in the industry, BLAST has expanded its influence, taking over commercial rights for competitive broadcasts and events for both games.

Initially partnering with Epic Games in 2021 for Fortnite events, BLAST has now renewed and expanded the collaboration, handling all operations for the Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS) and venturing into the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS).

This move comes as a surprise to those who expected BLAST to contract following the ESL-FACEIT merger.

BLAST, known for its prominent role in Counter-Strike with BLAST Premier, has been strategic in its expansion, also overseeing leagues and events in Rainbow Six Siege and FNCS.

The company’s ability to operate within the margins, securing contracts for esports beyond traditional sports arenas, signals a positive outlook for diversified competition among tournament organizers.

While ESL’s vast resources could potentially dominate the market, BLAST’s flexibility and ability to secure contracts for esports with varying levels of popularity showcase a healthier competition landscape.

The expansion into RLCS marks a significant step for BLAST, taking charge of all league operations for the FNCS and RLCS, demonstrating its commitment to elevating and growing competitive properties in collaboration with major game publishers like Epic Games.

Team Vitality has announced through a heartfelt message on Twitter that it will be exiting the competitive Fortnite scene.

The team has been active in the space since 2018, and its players have achieved numerous wins and accumulated approximately $357,000 in earnings from Fortnite.

However, the organization has decided to focus on streamlining and will therefore be saying goodbye to Fortnite.

“A chapter in our history is closing, Team Vitality is leaving the Fortnite competitive scene,” Team Vitality announced.

“Thanks to @Snayzyy, @PodaSaiFN, @ketzxn and @Sylkaos and thanks to all the Fortnite legends and fans who have worn Team Vitality’s colours for the past 4 wonderful years.”

The announcement provided limited information, but it was sufficient to indicate that Team Vitality’s involvement with the organization has come to an end. It is expected that the team’s Fortnite creators and players will move on to potentially join another platform.

Even though Team Vitality has announced they are leaving the Fortnite esports scene, there are still many highly skilled teams in the industry, such as Become Legends and Tundra Esports.

These teams have proven themselves through victories in tournaments like the FNCS Invitational and by representing some of the top players in the world.

While Team Vitality has made a significant impact on the gaming community, it is important to recognize that the competition will continue without them.

Team Vitality thanked the players, staff, and fans for their contribution and support to the team. They also announced their plans for the future in a follow-up statement on Twitter.

“Our strategy to develop the best European teams has pushed us to focus on a smaller selection of high-level ecosystems,” the tweet read.

“We want to thank all the players, the staff, as well as the Fortnite fans, for all the work they have accomplished and for joining us on this journey.”

Team Vitality has stated on its website that it currently has a presence in various esports, including League of Legends (both LEC and LFL), FIFA, CS:GO, Rocket League, VALORANT, and content creation assets referred to as “ambassadors.”

It will be interesting to see if the organization decides to leave any other esports platforms in an effort to concentrate on a smaller number of ecosystems.

Fortnite recently released the Chapter 4 update, which includes a new map, mechanics, skins, and cosmetics.

The update has received a lot of attention and sets the stage for the future of the game.

Despite being in operation for over five years, Fortnite is still considered one of the top battle royale games. Epic Games has further improved the game with the Unreal 5.1 update.

It is rumored that the platform will receive additional features in the future, such as a “double jump” feature and possibly even wall-running, which would make the already smooth game even faster and more agile.

As Fortnite esports remains a hit, fans are looking forward to the next development and potentially, the next Fortnite World Cup.
